Writing

Tales of Lorcastle/ Kingsclere Warren

Tales of Lorcastle is a story about stories. It is split into two narratives about three different characters, each in a different point in their life, each trying to find something in their life worth doing. One follows a librarian, one follows a researcher, and one follows a speaker for the dead.

This is my 4th summer working on this project, and I am proud to say that it is finally coming to it’s end. Or at least, it finally finishing itself. It had taken a lot more work than I ever imagined it might, but if I tie this all together properly, it might actually be worth it.

Progress: about 99% done with a final draft of Part 1. Rough drafts written for parts 2-4 of Lorcastle. I am still working on how to frame Kingsclere.

Chapter One is available here.

Silk Road/ The Last Bookstore/ A Brief History of Magic

These are a series of stories I have been working on for about a year or two, and is based on multiple tenants of magic. Wherein Tales of Lorcastle is a reaction to nested fantasy tropes, this is a reaction to the complexity that is magic. I took a break from writing Silk Road when I decided to rewrite all of Tales of Lorcastle.

At the base of things, this is my making as grounded a magic system as I have ever seen. This is my answer to the plot hole that is Sectumsempra.

The Last Bookstore is a real place. It is located at 453 S Spring St, Los Angeles, California.

Progress: 15% of the first book.
